Hertford County Yacht Club – 60 Year Celebration BBQ

Hertford County Yacht club 60 year anniversary bbq

Hertford County Yacht Club are hitting 60 years old this summer and they’re celebrating it in the best way possible. A proper afternoon BBQ down by the river, open to everyone, and all the profits they raise is coming straight to us at The Rhys Daniels Trust. Honestly that kind of kindness doesn’t come around every day.

The big date is Sunday 14th September, from 2pm to 6pm. At their club in Stanstead Abbotts, right on the water. If you’ve never been there before, the place is just lovely. Boats drifting past, bit of shade from the trees, it’s the kind of spot you can just sit in and switch off.

They’ve gone all out for this one. BBQ food, dinghy and power boat rides, and music. Nothing over the top, just one of those events where people come together and have a good time. Kids can run about, parents can relax, friends can laugh. Feel free to bring your own drinks and alcohol. It’s exactly what a summer afternoon should feel like.

And yeah it’s about celebrating 60 years which is massive, but it’s also about something bigger. They’ve chosen to use their big milestone to help families who are going through the hardest times imaginable.

What I love is that it’s not a flashy event with big sponsors or anything like that. It’s the club members pulling it together, because they wanted to make a difference. That says everything you need to know about what sort of people they are. You can feel the heart behind it.

If you’re sitting there thinking, shall I go? I’d say yes, 100%. Grab a mate, bring the family, make a day of it. The more that turn up, the bigger the impact it has. Even if you just pop in for an hour, it all counts.

I’ll be attending with real excitement, not just for the food and atmosphere, but to see first-hand the generosity of everyone who comes along. Events like this show how a local club can use its milestone to create something lasting, and I think that’s what makes this anniversary stand out.
